An Ageless Vision - Seeing Through the Eyes of Scripture

Philosophy logo

"Philosophy without religion unavoidably leads to dry mental speculation, and religion without philosophy unavoidably leads to sentimentalism and fanaticism."

"Science is ghastly silent about all and sundry that is really near to our
heart, that really matters to us. It cannot tell us about red and blue, bitter
and sweet, beautiful and ugly, good or bad, God and eternity. Science
sometimes pretends to answer questions in these domains, but the answers
are often so silly that we are not inclined to take them seriously."
[Erwin Schrödinger (1887 - 1961), Physicist, 1933 Nobel prize winner]

As time progresses, we seemingly progress along in our endeavors to conquer our animalistic ancestry. The present space age offers comforts hitherto unknown. Comforts we deserve for having risen from the caveman stage to the metropolis stage. Comforts that ensure a happy and peaceful society. Comforts that ensure a long and healthy life.

Science boldly declares to have found the origin of life and the universe, or at least some insignificant parts of its "building blocks." Medical science is now capable of hiding the symptoms of more diseases than ever existed before, and it will be only one little step further to immortality, so they guarantee. Our defense technology is capable of defending us against anything but ourselves, and advanced sociology has done its utmost best to ensure equality between men and women, criminals and victims, the sane and insane.

You may have noticed an ironical undertone in the previous statements, and there is a reason for that. We like to believe that we are living in some kind of utopian environment. Reality is somewhat different, though. Behind the carefully draped mass media veil of fantasy and deception lurk the symptoms of a society rotten to the bone. They are the symptoms of a disease rooted in the primeval hunger for lording it over material nature.

The ancient Vedic wisdom, with its ageless vision, sheds new light on these problems of so-called modern life. It shows us the symptoms of human degradation from the eternal spiritual perspective. The eternal relationship of the living entity with the Supreme Lord.
