Educational programs
In 1992 a girls' school was started. Girls are trained in the arts associated with spiritual life and in practical management of the home and family. A rapidly growing library of books provides the students access to knowledge in all fields of activities. Although new buildings to house students are being constructed, most students prefer to live in the traditional bamboo huts with grass roofs and mud floors. The atmosphere in these areas of the gurukula is beyond compare, and anyone who visits becomes immediately peaceful and appreciative of the simple, traditional lifestyle of the students. A scholarship program maintains a portion of the students. Interested donors may sponsor a child's education and maintenance for 50-75 dollars per month. All children are provided with food, clothing, housing, recreation, and medical treatment, in addition to the usual educational programs. |
